OVERVIEW
$55 million is available statewide for grants to meet the urgent need of Michigan small businesses that have experienced a significant financial hardship due to the recent COVID-19 emergency “gatherings and face mask orders.” 
  • Grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded to businesses that are fully closed, with grants of up to $15,000 awarded to businesses that have been partially closed, or otherwise are open and can demonstrate an impact.
  • Lakeshore Advantage will be administering this program in Allegan and Ottawa Counties, with $1.925 million available in the two-county region.

The application is LIVE on Tuesday, January 19 @ 9am and is open through Friday, January 22 @ noon.    
  • One application for the whole state at www.michiganbusiness.org/survival
  • The application is not first-come, first served, but is open for a very short window of time. 
  • Those considering applying should go to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s site at www.michiganbusiness.org/survival for FAQs, eligibility requirements, sample application and to access the application once it’s live.

REVIEW CRITERIA
The following criteria will be considered during Allegan and Ottawa county application review:
  • Status of operation (open, partially open, fully closed)
  • Industry
  • Revenue loss
  • Compliance with MDHHS orders
  • Status as a for-profit or non-profit business
  • Active/valid state licenses/registration
  • Number of employees retained as result of grant
  • Franchise status
  • Provision of goods and services to more than one customer or client
  • Average wage of jobs retained
  • Number of years in operation
  • Addition of new products or services
