HARBOR STEEL EXPANDING IN HOLLAND CHARTER TOWNSHIP
Company investing nearly $2.5 million in land and building improvements

02/05/2021 // HOLLAND, MICH – Harbor Steel & Supply Corporation, a metal services company with four West Michigan locations, is investing $2,466,444 to expand their current Holland Charter Township facility at 2385 112th Avenue. Lakeshore Advantage, the economic development organization that assists employers with growth opportunities in Ottawa and Allegan counties, connected the company with local resources to support their growth.

“Manufacturing accounts for nearly 40% of our region’s Gross Domestic Product, and more than one out of four jobs in our region is in manufacturing, paying one-third higher wages than other private sector jobs,” said Jennifer Owens, Lakeshore Advantage President. “Harbor Steel and their leadership continuously give back and support our community, and we are pleased to support their growth in our region.”

Harbor Steel is building an approximate 34,000 square foot expansion on the west end of their existing Holland Charter Township facility.  This project will allow the company to retain their current workforce of 24 employees and is expected to lead to the creation of another 10 jobs over the next two years.

“The Holland community has been a home to Harbor Steel since 1986. The humble beginnings of a start-up operation to our fifth expansion is a testament to this vibrant and dynamic marketplace,” said Stephen B. Heneveld, COO, Harbor Steel & Supply. “The business-friendly environment and the dedicated workforce has been vital to our success and longevity. Our team is genuinely excited for the future and this new chapter in our West Michigan story.”

Harbor Steel is an established, all-in-one metal services company that measures, processes, cuts, and distributes metal products for a variety of industries and applications. The company has four Michigan locations and other operations in West Virginia and Kentucky to serve customers nationally.

Holland Charter Township approved support for the project in the form of a 12-year Industrial Facilities Tax Exemption.

“Harbor Steel’s expansion and investment in their facility is exciting and we are pleased to support their efforts,” said Steve Bulthuis, Holland Charter Township Manager.
