How will you participate?

One in four jobs in West Zeeland-Public-Schools.JPGMichigan is in manufacturing. These jobs pay higher wages on average than other jobs in the community. We need to share the opportunities available locally, to help bridge the talent gap in skilled workers for our employers and to raise awareness of all opportunities for our future workforce, no matter what path they may follow.
This is why companies and schools participate in the week-long effort to discover manufacturing career opportunities and raise awareness of the great products made in West Michigan through Manufacturing Week, this year from October 1-5. A quick search of the national site shows scores of events planned in West Michigan hosted by dozens of companies. There’s still time to participate, and if you’re hosting an event, be sure to post it to the national site so others can search it and learn about your company.

Educators sign up to be paired with a manufacturing event near you. No excuses, Lakeshore Advantage will administer covering costs for busing through a state grant.
Employers – whether or not you can participate, a way to reach a broader, youthful audience and bring your manufacturing processes to life is through virtual reality. Check out this comic building smart manufacturing app to extend awareness of what you do virtually and inspire the next generation of manufacturers.
