Lakeshore Advantage to Administer Michigan Small Business Restart Program in Allegan and Ottawa Counties

Today, the Michigan Strategic Fund Board approved the allocation of $100 million in grants for COVID-19 small business recovery as part of the CARES Act (see full MEDC press release HERE.) Lakeshore Advantage has been allotted $3.5 million to administer this program in Allegan and Ottawa counties which awards grants in the amount of $20,000 to small businesses of 50 or fewer employees.
“This is great news for small businesses with the potential of over 160 organizations being funded, and Lakeshore Advantage is honored to be stewards of these funds to assist in challenging times,” said Jennifer Owens, president, Lakeshore Advantage. “As we work through how the program will be administered locally, we are being thoughtful of the need, the process and assembling a review committee of financial experts and business leaders.”
Thirty percent of the grants must go to women, minority or veteran-owned businesses. “We are asking for assistance in sharing news about this grant far and wide to reach all businesses to help with critical needs and ensure a vibrant economy in West Michigan.” said Owens.
