STARTUP COMPANIES REPORT FOR ACTIVE DUTY AT SURGE BOOSTCAMP

Seven startups completed “basic training,” onto “active duty” to prove their new company ideas.

10/8/2020 // HOLLAND, MICH – SURGE, powered by Lakeshore Advantage, started its second cohort of SURGE Boostcamp this September. Seven companies have completed the “basic training” portion of the program and are entering the high intensity “active duty”  sessions where their startup business ideas will be proven through customer validation. Boostcamp is a 12-week, proof of concept program based on LEANSTACK playbooks, using customer development for entrepreneurs to multiply their company’s traction by 10 with each module.

“We have a very diverse group of startups, dedicated to the process and gaining traction on their business ideas,” said Amanda Chocko, Director of Entrepreneurship at Lakeshore Advantage and facilitator of SURGE Boostcamp. “Boostcamp is ideal for entrepreneurs with products, services or technologies that have yet to validate their target market, and the tools and skills they are gaining give great insight on their startups.”

The weekly SURGE Boostcamp is held Wednesday nights, virtually. This is the second time the program is being offered. Gentex is the corporate sponsor of this year’s SURGE Boostcamp.

“Innovation is foundational to Gentex, which is why we’re proud to support a mentorship program devoted to local technology start-ups,” said Neil Boehm, Gentex Chief Technology Officer. “These entrepreneurs receive valuable information through Boostcamp to push their innovations forward and strategize a successful product launch.”

Four mentors and the startup founders and co-founders attend the two hour Boostcamp sessions weekly, and spend an expected 10 hours each week prepping for class, conducting customer interviews and meeting together to help navigate the startups forward. Participating startup companies and founders are:
