04/05/2022 // ZEELAND, MICH – Symbiote, a global leader in the design, development, and manufacturing of customized furniture products and solutions for the biotechnology, education, healthcare, and security industries, is investing over $626,000 in expanding its operations in the City of Zeeland. Lakeshore Advantage, the economic development organization that assists employers with growth opportunities in Ottawa and Allegan counties, connected the company with local resources on this project.

“Symbiote is a great example of the incremental growth that has caused our community to flourish economically,” said Jennifer Owens, Lakeshore Advantage President. “This expansion will allow Symbiote to move forward incorporating new technologies. This future-focused expansion is a great example of how companies can adapt and diversify to remain strong.”

This expansion adds 4.670 ft of space to their existing facility in the City of Zeeland and will create 7 new jobs. While small, this expansion will allow Symbiote to move forward with long-planned, large-term goals of incorporating various new technologies and equipment in their overall operations.

“This addition, along with reorganizing our current space, has created the necessary room for new state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities,” said Barrett Randolph, Symbiote President. “This puts Symbiote in a great position to support the rapidly growing laboratory furniture market.”

The City of Zeeland is supporting this project in the form of a 12-year Industrial Facilities Tax Exemption that was approved last night.

"We appreciate Symbiote's presence here in our community and are pleased to provide support for their expansion and investment in their facility,” said Mayor Kevin Kylnstra of the City of Zeeland.
